FAQ
Should I use a moisturizer if I have oily skin?
It’s a common misconception that those with oily skin should skip moisturizer as a way to “dry out” their skin. In reality, this may do more harm than good. Skipping moisturizer can lead to increased dryness, which, in turn, can cause your skin to overcompensate by producing more oil. Oily skin can also be dehydrated at the same time, think an oily scalp yet dry hair. Moisturizing can help maintain your skin’s moisture levels and prevent extreme dryness or oiliness—both of which can impact the look and feel of your skin. When it comes to finding a moisturizer for oily or acne-prone skin, (Tensage Advanced Cream Moisturizer) it’s important to look for ones that are oil-free or non-comedogenic. This helps ensure you are providing that needed moisture without looking shiny or feeling greasy.
When should I use a moisturizer?
If you want to get the most out of your face moisturizer, you’ll need to use it correctly. Moisturizers should generally be applied twice daily as part of a consistent morning and evening skincare routine. They are usually applied after washing your face and applying any serums or targeted treatments (but before applying sunscreen). However, each facial moisturizer will have its own set of instructions, so it’s important to read the label carefully and apply as directed.
What should I look for in a moisturizer?
Face moisturizers aren’t a one-size-fits-all skincare product. The ideal moisturizer for your skin will depend on several factors, such as your skin type and personal preferences. With that said, there are a few things to look for when choosing a face moisturizer for healthy-looking skin. Skin that is dry and showing signs of aging will benefit from emollients that provide and lock in moisture combined with additional key ingredients to address skin aging like growth factors or stem cells. If you are experiencing estrogen deficient skin (EDS) (Understanding and Addressing Estrogen Deficient Skin) due to peri-menopause or menopause, moisturizers (Emepelle Night Cream) with butters and oils and targeted anti-aging ingredients specific to EDS help balance out extreme dryness and reduce collagen loss associated with EDS.
Is rough skin, dry skin?
Rough skin can be caused by various factors, including dryness, dehydration and environmental stressors. If you believe that your rough skin is due to dehydration or dryness, it is recommended to switch to more hydrating products and increase your water intake. Gentle exfoliation with alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) (C+AHA Renewal Serum) can also help remove surface dead skin cells that contribute to the rough texture while also increasing the moisture content of your skin.
